Hello everyone!
Welcome to the start of the holiday season! It’s so close you can almost smell the turkey cooking. And we all know what that means – holiday shopping. That wonderful time of year when we wake up at 3:00 a.m., grab our battle gear (sweaters, gloves, scarves, fanny packs, credit cards, Christmas gift lists, and store ads), pile into our cars sans makeup or decent hair, and stand out in the cold in long lines with thermoses full of high-octane caffeine, all so we can duke it out in the electronics section over the latest Rock Band game or ram carts with the lady who grabbed the last Elmo off the shelf. Wow -- what a great way to get in the holiday spirit!
I have a better idea. Try following my checklist this year and see if you don’t find yourself a little less stressed:
1. Sleep in! Why go out in the blustery cold when you can stay snuggled in bed?
2. When you decide to wake up, slide on those fuzzy slippers. No need to get dressed if you don’t feel like it – this is your shopping day!
3. Make yourself a great big cup of rich hot chocolate (don’t forget the mini marshmallows and sprinkles).
4. Turn on your computer. Ignore your email today…I guarantee it’ll still be there tomorrow.
5. Go to www.holidaywreathstore.com and order a wreath, centerpiece, or other great fresh holiday gift for the folks on your Christmas gift list. Don’t forget to order one for yourself!
6. Turn off your computer, put your favorite movie in the DVD player, curl up in a blanket on the couch and press “play.”
7. Now relax. Your holiday shopping is done!
And no worries for you night owls…you can do the same shopping routine in the evening too. Just substitute a great glass of wine for the hot chocolate (definitely DON’T add mini marshmallows this time).
And there you have it – no battling for parking spots, no long lines, no blisters on your feet, and everybody gets something they’ll love throughout the season. Mission accomplished!
Now, if only we could get the hubby to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year….
(C’mon, a girl can dream, can’t she?)
Until next time --
Michelle
